Chapel Hill Legacy Academy - Rapid Progress Every Week!

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Dear Legacy Families and Friends!

We are making rapid progress every week with entertaining work occurring both inside (see brief video of spacklers working on the 12 foot walls and ceilings) and out. We have a new RED fire hydrant and other underground connections now in place!

Work at this stage is very hot for the construction teams and more tedious and detailed. Chris leads the teams as they forge ahead to try to complete the construction as early as possible. We are leaning toward a date in September-to be conservative at least mid-September for completion.

We are interviewing and beginning to hire key leadership staff over the next few weeks, Director, followed by Lead Teachers, Chef, etc. which will be a continuous and never-ending process in the life of the Academy.

We are excited to be at this stage with the opening of the school ever more eminent. I will be in touch with each of the Legacy Families over the next 2 weeks to finalize details and paperwork for your children.

We look forward to providing a fabulous environment for your children to grow and learn.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina - Recent Construction Progress For Our New Preschool - 2011 01

Thursday, September 15, 2011

The solid pad (in the video) supports the building and provides the basis for rapid progress over the next few days. Chris and his team will be completing the parking lots and framing the building- it will really start to look like a school!

If you stop by to check on progress with your children, please keep "Safety First" the priority, and ensure that children stay off the construction area and away from heavy equipment coming and going. We want to avoid any injuries. "Too close" visits distract Chris and his construction team as well, placing everyone at increased risk. We are all excited to see our academy going up and we want it to be fun and safe!

If you have questions or suggestions, please send us a note back. As we get closer to opening we will provide more opening details, and seek your ideas and feedback along with our progress updates. We want this to be a two-way communication; more ideas, better results!

Enjoy the Spring!

Legacy Academy's Blog is dedicated to providing you with the latest news on Early Childcare Education and Early Learning. A child's needs at this period are different from those of older schoolchildren, because early childhood sees the greatest growth and development, when the brain develops most rapidly, almost at its fullest. It is a period when walking, talking, self-esteem, vision of the world and moral foundations are established.[citation needed] The early years of life are critical to the development of intelligence, personality and social behavior. Research on brain development attests to the importance of key mental, physical and social capabilities. If these fundamental capabilities are not well established from the start, and especially if neurological damage occurs, a child's learning potential could be adversely affected.[citation needed] As such, education in early childhood must has its own specific practices and issues.
